A popular peer-to-peer (P2P) client using the BitTorrent protocol, this application has rightfully become a leader in its category thanks to its functionality and small size.
Its advantages include multi-threaded file downloading, bandwidth allocation, upload/download speed limits, and remote control via a web interface. Among the newer features are useful additions such as video streaming (allowing preview of downloading content) and a built-in rating and commenting system for torrents.
Additionally, uTorrent users can now share content with friends. To use this feature, simply drag the selected files into the designated area of the main program window (“Drop files to send”), after which a torrent file is automatically generated, and you can share the link with anyone you like.
It’s also worth mentioning the integrated BitTorrent Speed technology. This protocol accelerates downloads by using so-called tokens: in theory, to earn more tokens, seeders stay connected longer, while users who want faster downloads can spend tokens to boost their speeds.
