Therefore, this program can also serve as a backup solution: if an optical disc becomes damaged, you can always create a new one from the saved image. The software allows you to create up to 31 virtual drives and use them simultaneously, effectively replacing a physical optical drive with a software-based solution. A CD/DVD drive is only required initially to create the disc image. The program also includes a disc quality check feature. Key features include creating up to 31 virtual drives using the SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD) layer, creating images of CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs in formats such as MDF/MDS, CCD, BIN/CUE, ISO, CDI, BWT, B5T, B6T, BWI, BWS, and BWA, burning CD, DVD, and Blu-ray disc images, direct disc-to-disc copying, erasing information from CD-RW, DVD-RW, and BD-RE discs, searching for disc image files on your computer, and exporting and importing disc image file lists. There is also a free version called Alcohol 52%, which offers the same functionality except for the ability to burn CD and DVD discs.
